Editorial Guidelines
How we review AI therapy tools. What we source. Who reviews clinically. How we correct mistakes.
What we do
We publish independent reviews of AI therapy and mental-health software for consumers and therapists. Every review includes hands-on testing, pricing verification against vendor pricing pages, and — for clinical content — review by a named licensed mental-health professional.
Who reviews clinical content
Clinical content (efficacy claims, safety framing, therapeutic technique coverage, DSM-related content) is reviewed by a licensed mental-health professional before publication. The reviewer's name, credentials, licence jurisdiction, and review date appear at the top of every clinically-reviewed page.
Editorial content (pricing, feature matrices, regulatory reporting, integration lists) is produced by our editorial team without clinical review. The distinction is marked on every page.
Sourcing standards
- Clinical evidence: peer-reviewed journals (PMC, Nature, NEJM AI, JAMA), systematic reviews, RCT registries. Every efficacy claim cites a specific study.
- Pricing: vendor pricing pages directly, with
dateModifiedon every review. Re-verified quarterly. - Regulatory: FDA AI/ML-enabled device list, DOJ/FTC filings, state licensing boards. Paraphrased claims link to primary sources.
- User ratings: G2, Capterra, Trustpilot — current counts, not cached.
Update cadence
- Pricing and feature data: re-verified quarterly per cluster (Q1/Q2/Q3/Q4).
- Regulatory status: re-verified quarterly or immediately on major news (Woebot shutdown, Cerebral DOJ resolution, FDA clearance changes).
- Clinical-evidence citations: reviewed semi-annually by our clinical reviewer.
Affiliate disclosure
We earn affiliate commissions when readers sign up for tools through links on this site. A disclosure appears above the fold on every affiliate-linked page. Our rankings are independent of commission amount — the top-ranked tool is not the tool that pays us most.
Conflict-of-interest policy
- We do not accept paid placements disguised as editorial content.
- We do not let vendors preview or edit reviews.
- If a vendor becomes an affiliate partner after we publish a review, the disclosure is added immediately.
- Our clinical reviewer declares any financial relationships with reviewed tools; reviewers with undisclosed relationships do not review those tools.
